I collect frog baits because I love fishing in lily pads so much. I love these baits so much, I keep at least four extra bags in my boat just in case. I can go through a pack in one weekend cause they work so well. BAD thing is the noses get ripped out after a couple fish, and you have hook a new one on.
I've had the best luck with the top half dark green and the bottom half a chartreuse color.
Just bought a set in black because I've had luck in the past with all black salad spoons and dk. green Rage tails. Those are the big 3 when I talk about good topwater plastics.
THE MONEY Frog has terrible action, don't waste your money on those. Just tried them. These are the best overall and a killer deal.

Comments about D & J PLASTICS Gander Mountain® Frog, 3.5", 5-Pack:
Best soft plastic frog I've used to date (have tried many other brands/designs). I always use the two tone dark green/light green and it always produces a good amount of strikes; running over lily pads and other heavy cover will bring out the bass strikes and the open water action is just as productive. The only downside to this bait is when used in open water - pike love the paddle foot action (single use pike bait - they shred them to pieces).

Comments about D & J PLASTICS Gander Mountain® Frog, 3.5", 5-Pack:
My favorite bait. Very versatile can use as a top water or use as a jig. Catches big bass and a lot of them. Only problem is it only lasts bout 1-2 fish. All in all a great bait for a great price.

Q:
does it floatAsked on 6/6/2010 by Anonymous3 answers
A:
It will sink if not continual being moved.Answered on 8/10/2010 by froggin4life from Traverse City, MIA:
No, but sinks real slowly. The wide body makes it real easy to keep on the surface. Keep your rod at about 11 o'clock, get a hit, drop the rod to 3 o'clock and then set the hood. In slop don't be surprized if you only hook up about 50% or so of the hits you get.Answered on 1/8/2011 by Poppa Zit from Perham, MNA:

Q:
I'm not sure exactly how to rig this frog. I'm dying to try it in central Florida, but, I need a little help on rigging and presentation. Any help would be great. ThanxAsked on 2/18/2009 by Andy from central florida5 answers
A:
take an offset hook insert it about 1/2 in. (with the belly of the hook pointing down)poke it through and push it up onto the offset part of the hook twist the hook so the point is below the belly and you can vary your hook height(the amount of hook showing)from weedless to an exposed hook,i leave just about 1/4 of the hook exposed, and if your worried about setting the hook don't be because the bait will slide down the hook,GOOD LUCK!Answered on 3/5/2009 by Beesy from Greene,IAA:
Texas rig style. just make sure the point of the hook is buried just barely below the surface of the top of the frog as to not miss any strikes. I actually cut a small slit on the top of the frog where the point will come out to hook the fish, this prevents the hook from tearing the rubber.Answered on 8/19/2009 by Zac from WisconsinA:
Try a texas rig or using a bait keeper hook. I run it across the top of the water at a moderate to high speed and the bass love it.Answered on 1/30/2010 by -PG- from Fort Drum, NYA:
I use a Gamakatsu 4/0 Wide Gap Superline Hook and rig it texas style. Go through the nose about 1/4 inch coming out under the head. Run hook through belly just ahead of the legs, coming out on the back of the frog. Skin the point and you are weedless and you are ready for some awesome action!Answered on 2/23/2010 by Weekend Bass Angler from Breckenridge, MichiganA:
Use a BIG texas rig hook. Make sure when you hook it, the hook doesn't distort the shape of the frog in any way. You want to go maybe .25" in through the nose, and then down out the bottom of the chin. Hook the end up from the bottom about .25" from the back of the bait so the hook comes up and lines up with the backbone of the frog. you can tuck in the tip into the elevated V on the top of the frog if you need extra weed invisibility.
You should try casting it onto shore and then hopping it into water. You just don't want to make a big splash. I've cast it onto lily pads, etc. too.You want to fish these as slow as you can while keeping the legs kicking and the bait on the surface.
When a fish strikes, don't set the hook on sight. COUNT TO THREE out loud or in your head. Then set the hook as quick and hard as humanly possible.Answered on 5/5/2010 by Frogger from Northwoods, WI
