The FS-1503 is a marine SSB radio-telephone that uses state-of-the-art technology. A high-performance PLL synthesizer generates all frequencies between 1.6 to 26.2 MHz for transmitter in 100 Hz steps and 1.6 to 30 MHz for receiver in 10 Hz steps. All 192 ITU marine channels are stored in memory, and the distress/calling frequency is accessed via a single touchpad. You can program up to 128 simplex (or 64 semi-duplex) frequencies into memory. A two-tone alarm generator is provided as standard. Other features include an impulse noise blanker and a squelch to cut down annoying noise on receive. The automatic antenna coupler is supplied as standard. It matches a whip or wire antenna between 6 to 15 meters long, typically in less than half a second on channels that have been tuned before, and 2 seconds on new channels. In addition, the FS-1503 offers frequency selection via rotary tuning control or direct entry through numeric touchpads; large backlit LCD display that shows all operating data, signal strength, and RF output level; and die-cast aluminum construction for strength and durability.
