The pins are too short to engage all three fingers of the connection. I have a large dock that is over ten years old that uses your system and works great. I added a new section and the pins sent are over an inch shorter than the old ones and don't reach all the way through the connector

This system makes assembling and disassembling dock sections so easy. You do need to work a bit on connecting if you are one one of the sections; I usually try to step on both sections.

I use the connector pins to hold 20' sections of my dock walk.

We rebuilt a lost walkway section and used an angle Tee connector bracket and a male piece to first reinforce the corners of the recovered walkway section. The male piece connected to the existing dock and the pin connector made joining the recovered and refurbished walkway section to the existing dock much easier than the original design using a 3/4 inch bolt.
