Comments about Faria Chesapeake SS Instruments - Fuel Gauge:
If you are replacing a Faria product with this Faria product make sure that the connections will fit. At some point Faria has changed the design of their gauges and the new ones are not interchangable with older models. It would have been nice to have been forwarned that the connections were different from older Faria models as it would have saved me [$] for a product that is unusable.

A:
Connect ground to terminal marked "G". Locate the hot wire (12v) with voltmeter, it is usually a color other than red. The voltage between the ground wire, usually the black wire and the colored wire should be your system voltage when the ignition key is on. The terminal on the gauge for the hot wire will be marked "I" for ignition. The senser wire is usually red, connect it to the third terminal. Caution: DO NOT CONNECT THE HOT WIRE TO THE SENSER TERMINAL, IT COULD DAMAGE THE FUEL SENSER IN THE FUEL TANK.Answered on 11/16/2011 by LJ from Greenville, Kentucky

A:
These gauges, as well as our other gauges. are designed to read full at 33ohms, and empty will typically read 240 ohms, as most senders send signals from 33-240 ohms.Answered on 9/14/2009 by Bob from Overton's TechCUSTOMER CARE

Q:
I have a 1996 Crownline 202 W/Faria guages fuel is erratic is there a test to know if its sender or guage?Asked on 7/25/2009 by DG from Clear Lake Ia1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Most standard marine fuel senders come in two flavors, American and European. The American senders have a resistance range of 240 to 33 ohms (240 ohms empty, 33 ohms full). The European senders are 10 to 180 ohms (10 ohms empty, 180 ohms full).
It is possible your gauge has not moved because the fuel sender has not moved. This can occur if the fuel sender is poorly aligned and "maxes out" mechanically before the tank is full. Another possibility is that there is a short in the sender wires.
To test your gauge, remove the sender wire. The gauge will read full or empty. Then short the sender terminal of the gauge to ground, it should read the reverse.Answered on 11/12/2009 by OVERTON'S from TECHNICIAN

I have a 1997 Searay with Teleflex gauges.... one fuel gauge face plate came off. If I replace with a pair of the Faria gauges will this work?Asked on 5/12/2009 by Sloupy from Boca Raton, FL1 answer
A:
You need to match the sending unit with the gauge. It may work, but chances are it will not.Answered on 6/16/2009 by DB from Galveston, TX
