This ladder has little-to-NO instructions.

The pre-drilled holes did not go all the way thru the platform, and they were not thick enough for the bolts so new pilot holes had to be drilled anyway.

The brackets had no instructions and was no clear at all specifically where to attach them.

Also - all other platform ladders have the ladder attach to the TOP of the platform so it doesn't come lose during travel. These attach to the bottom, which seems like it will be a problem down the road.

And finally - the way the ladder secures to the platform seems problematic. it only secures using Velcro which will wear out quick in salt water.

On a POSITIVE note - the materials are very solid and sturdy. The stainless pipe is strong and the actual platform is very thick and rugged.

THE PLATFORM IS PRESTAMPED FOR ALIGNMENT OF HOLES TO FIT MOST ANY SITUATION. THE HARDWARE IS ALSO CAPABLE OF BEING USED IN MORE THAN ONE WAY.THE BOAT I MOUNTED THIS PLATFORM TO WAS A 2003 CENTER CONSOLE THAT HAD A FACTORY PLATFORM CUT OFF LEAVING THE SHARP STAINLESS PIPES AND HARDWARE. I WAS ABLE TO ADAPT THIS PLATFORM TO A PERFECT FIT AND THEN ADD AN ADDITIONAL BRACE (IN THE KIT FOR A DIFFERENT SETUP). WITH A LITTLE BENDING AND MODIFICICATION IT WAS PURE QUALITY.

Very high quality ladder. Installed on my 2012 Alumacraft Trophy 185. I'm 6ft 220 and it doesn't even show signs of flexing with me on it. Be sure to purchase stainless fasteners for the boat side, along with a marine grade sealant. Only wish I had more time to use it!!!

Is mounting hardware included? If not, what type of hardware is needed? When mounting, does one simply screw in mounting screws, or does one drill all the way through the hull with a bolt and nut assembly?

                A:

Mounting hardware is not included. We are required to leave mounting this ladder up to the customer. So, you can mount it either way you want, because both ways can be correct. It depends on your particular application.

These are universal ladders, not designed to fit on any specific type of boat. If you have space on your transom, the ladder will work.

Screws? I don't want to sound skeptical, but I have trouble believing screws could support something that is supposed to hold 275 pounds. Are you sure they won't come out? Is the hole large enough, or could I make it large enough, for a bolt?
