    How do these lights actually work? What is the best way to remove the protective film from the solar panel? It almost seems like there is none.

      From the manufacturer:
      the film is not on those lights. Take off the magnet on the back side to engage the battery and then charge it for at least 1 day.

      It will automatically turn on in the dark.
