Check Hardware
This is a great dock ladder, however the hardware package was incomplete and the directions were lacking because this was surely a chinese translation that applied to many models.

The ladder was great but the hardware supplied to install it is really, really poor. The two small retaining "clips" that are supplied are not at all adequate to take the stress that the ladder will see and both pulled out when I first tested the ladder. I would judge this hardware as absolutely not safe to use.I went to the hardware store and bought two square shouldered u-bolts that did the job perfectly

Comments about Dockmate 4-Step Dock Ladder:
The "J" hooks used for installation do not line up properly and during a storm, the ladder came loose and fell to the bottom of the lake. So either tie the ladder off or modify the installation to prevent this event

Comments about Dockmate 4-Step Dock Ladder:
We put this on our pontoon in the front between the tubes. Slope to ladder makes entry very easy. We also went with the four steps which was good since our toon sits high out of the water. Only took a 1/2 hr to install. Very easy and nice construction.

Comments about Dockmate 4-Step Dock Ladder:
I am not using this dock ladder for traditional use. Rather, I am replacing an old ladder on a house boat that joins the main deck to the upper. The angle of this ladder is much more convenient and safe than the straight ladder that came with the boat. Installed it using two pieces of composite decking, cut to length, as anchor pieces for the ladder. Perfect!

Comments about Dockmate 4-Step Dock Ladder:
The ladder is just right for our use, and can easily be removed and stored for off season. The only issue was the bolts were not long enough to secure, bought longer ones.
