First off I was unable to speak with a company rep (after three attempts) who had actually held one of these bumpers in his/her hands. Info provided turned out to be incorrect. I was able to cut the bumper with a hacksaw and use it. The problem is that none of the marketing photos show the "back" side of the bumper. As is you cannot use this bumper on a dock post where a dock roof is tied in to the post on which the bumper is supposed to go. Suggested Improvements: 1) Make both ends of the bumper the same so that it can snap around the post instead of having to slip on over the top of the post. 2)Put two "grooves" on the bumper, one at each end to accommodate a large "hose-clamp" to secure the bumper to the post. I had to alter the bumper by cutting the one end of the bumper from top to bottom so that I could get the bumper around the dock post without having to remove the steel roof of the dock. It works fine now and both ends affix to the dock post in the same manner. This change will be an easy but significant change to this product. Also, just a question: How can you work for a company as a "product specialist" having never seen or handled the actual product?

Too small for big pontoon boats
They are too small for the big tubes of the new pontoon boats. I ended up getting old car tires and putting them on the dock

In your description of the Dock Edge Torpedo Post Bumper, you say the bumper will fit up to a 2 inch diameter post. Is this a misprint? I don't know of any 2 inch dock posts...most are 4-6 inches..?Asked on 5/24/2012 by steve from Raleigh, NC0 answers
Q:
I have purchased these, and they are good, but I need the top part of the bumber that encloses the post to extend up another ~18 inches. Is there such a product, or can one be special ordered.Asked on 6/5/2011 by Anonymous0 answers
Q:
How (specifically) do you install this product (Dock Edge Torpeo Post Bumper)? Do you have to remove the pipe from the dock slide the bumper over the pipe and then "re-attach" the pipe and bumper to the dock? How would you attach this product to the "pipe" when the top of the pipe is part of the structure that holds up a roof that covers the dock? If you are to "slide" the bumper over the pipe, how do you get the "bottom" part of the bumper past the mounting hardware etc. that holds the pipe to the side of the dock? Has ANY
ONE there actually and personally installed this product on a dock supported by pipes? Is there a "slit" in the back of the bumper (that the photo does not show) that lets you spread it open and sort of snap the bumper around the pipe at the same level as the dock? This product would be perfect if I could figure out how to get it installed. ThanksAsked on 6/7/2010 by Anonymous from Des Moines, Iowa1 answer
A:
yes, I have personally installed the bumper, and there is a slit that allows the bottom part of the bumper to "snap" into place. It is a great design!Answered on 4/22/2012 by Craig from Wisc.

A:
Yes. The section that wraps the pole below the dock has an opening where it can slide around the pole. The section above the dock is a closed loop.Answered on 5/26/2009 by Michael from Overtons
