Design includes UV inhibitors and fungicides to prevent fading, yellowing, deterioration from sunlight, and unsightly blotching. Installs on horizontal or vertical surfaces. I installed this vertically on piles. It looks very good and easy to install. However when docking as the boat (20 foot runabout) rubbed against the bumper, it created a a tear of about 2 inches along the ribs. Will work well when pressure against it is perpendicular to the dock, but will not work if the boat pushes/rubs against it laterally parallel to the dock.
