Purchased for a pontoon we were refurbishing. If you have a $30,000 pontoon, you will probably want a more expensive model. But, for a basic pontoon, we are thrilled with it for the cost. One note: the base that bolts to the floor is plastic. We had an existing metal mount that it fit into on our boat. I am not sure I would use the plastic cup mount included with the table. Also, please note that no hardware (mounting screws) are included. Again, for us, this was no big deal since we used an existing mounting plate, but you will need to purchase 6 stainless steel screws if you use the manufacturers mounting plate.

Please note if you are purchasing this item the supplied pole is about 2" in diameter and will not fit most existing flush deck fittings that usually have a min diameter of 2 1/4". The pole end that fits into the deck will require some kind of adapter to make it fit and be sturdy. Overton's catalogue does not state the diameter of the supplied pole.
I guess that the manufacturer DetMar provides the pole and raised deck fitting for a first time installation. Installation of the raised deck fitting could be a tripping hazard when the table and support pole are not installed. Of course this would depend on where it is mounted on the boat deck.

Comments about DetMar Removable Marine Octagonal Table Kit:
We have a large, heavy, 2 post table we use for eating meals but I wanted a little table that wouldn't be in the way as much to use for just drinks and little snacks. This table is perfect for that. I can easily lift it off and wash it too. The only difficulty is the posts that I have are bigger and I didn't want to make another hole in the floor so I had to fabricate an adapter. Now it's all good!

Comments about DetMar Removable Marine Octagonal Table Kit:
We have a 20 ft pontoon. We have one kidney shaped table which is good if we have lots of stuff to put out. We also need to take it down when not in use, it gets in the way. This table is smaller and it can be left up when not in use. The pole that came with it is a little smaller than the bases that are on the boat. Rather than remove one of the bases and replace it with the base that came with the table we just wrapped some electrical tape around the bottom. That snugged it up nicely. I would buy another one of these if we need to.

I think it's about 1 7/8" You can remove the leg to store the table, but if you install the stand that comes with it, it is not recessed so it will not be flush with the floorAnswered on 10/30/2009 by Reenie from Pass Christian,MsVERIFIED BUYER
