Comments about Crosman Optimus .177 Air Rifle with Scope:

The Crosman Optimus is the most reliable air rifle I have ever had. It works excellently for target shooting, learning the basics for shooting, hunting, pest control, and what ever you may need if for. Just the other day I took out a woodchuck at 53 yards with one shot. I have no doubt in its capabilities to take out "larger" small game (woodchucks, foxes...). However, i wasn't using the scope that came with the gun, the scope that comes with the gun is reliable and has a nice field of view and rectiles, but breaks to easily for hard use. My only other flaw with the rifle is that it is heavy and difficult to hold after a while, but for target shooting on a rest it is superb. i found after experimenting with various pellets, that the .177 Winchester Round Nose Pellets shoot consistent patterns of less than 1/2 in. at 20 yds. and less than 1 in. at 40 yds. It is the best thing you can buy for a new or experienced hunter, you wont be disapointed.

Great gun for the price, Scope is metal not plastic, Need to be strong to use break action- not for wimps.

Comments about Crosman Optimus .177 Air Rifle with Scope:

This is a very nice pellet gun and definitely not a toy. I was in the market for a high power air rifle and this one did not disappoint. In fact it is much more powerful than I was expecting, which is nice. The scope that came with it was a nice surprise too. I was expecting some cheap plastic thing, none of which are true about this scope. The rifle is a little heavy but not so much that it lessens the enjoyment of shooting it. My one big complaint, which really has nothing to do with the gun itself, is that it came with three owner manuals and not one of them was written in English!

Comments about Crosman Optimus .177 Air Rifle with Scope:

I bought this air rifle after some research, for use in squirrel hunting as .22LR ammo is pretty hard to find right now. This is my 2 pence... The rifle is of decent quality for the price. The "iron sites" are poor, made entirely of flimsy plastic and do not hold zero. I mounted the scope and found it to be ok. It has a lensing effect, but holds a zero fine. The first shot from it was very loud, but after a 50 shot break in period, it is not bad. The buttstock pad is not confortable as it has a point, which is easy to fix by replacing or modifying it. Groupings are a inch at 50 feet(after break in period). Overal, I think it is a decent air rifle for the price.
