Based on other reviews and the photo, I expected a much more substantial item. This gun is very small and is made of light weight plastic and thin tube. The pellet gizmo is hard to load and it takes a long time to pump up to proper pressure - my 12-year-old son (who is very strong) could barely operate the pump. BB's did not feed well at all. Overall, I would say it was a disappointment. We took it into the backyard once or twice and it hasn't been used since. Oh yes, when I got it out of the box, the sights were cockeyed off to the side of the barrel - that was before I had to try installing and sighting the scope. I had to work on the entire gun for a long time just to get it ready to shoot the first shot. Poor quality control from the factory.

Comments about Crosman 764 Silver .177-Caliber Variable Pump Air Rifle:
Really good gun. I would recommend it to all starters. The only bad things are 1 in every 15 shots the BB falls out the barrel. And 1 in every 50 shots the gun jams. All you have to do is pull back the lever it and shake it. It is a very good gun.

can it take out a bird???????????????????????????????Asked on 3/17/2010 by one shot one kill from claysville pa2 answers
A:
An object traveling at 625 fps will definitely kill a bird. The question is if you can hit it and where you strike the bird. Some birds have very thick wing feathers that can slow down or repel gun fire.Answered on 3/30/2010 by CJ from MN from Rochester, MNA:

I'm in PA do I need a permit or what do I need to buy this for my son as a b day gift????Asked on 2/5/2010 by me from Pennsylvania1 answer

A drivers license...you do not need a fire arms ID card. or maybe just state picture ID. A drivers license for sure will let you buy the gun. I am from Jersey and air rifles from PA or NY State I use just a picture ID drivers license.............Answered on 8/16/2010 by Cynergyzed from New Jersey
