I was suprised at the composition of this board. I thought the top was more like a pad. It's actually more a structural part. The board was not the type I was more accustomed to, like a surfboard. At first I was a little worried about how it would hold up but after multiple uses I've found it to be suprisingly durable. We have smacked into rocks, shallowed them and caught the fin, and roughed up the sides and bottom. Other than a few light scratches on the bottom, the covering has held up extremely well. The only thing I dislike is that the soft top compresses where you stand and wears in some foot grooves. I suppose thats ok. Maybe it will become comfortable like your favorite chair.
