  • Q:

I have a 2004 Stingray with a Volvo SX outdrive. The boat lives in fresh water May to September and has never been in salt water. I have run a 4 blade SS 20" pitch prop for the past 2 seasons. I have noticed electrolysis taking place on the outdrive, mostly around the prop hub. The anodes are like new. Any suggestions? I thought of switching to zinc instead of aluminum if available. Thanks for the help!

      A:

If your boat stays in freshwater, I would suggest going with Magnesium anodes.
