I just used these pants for birding in Southeast AZ. They were perfect, light weight, cool, comfortable and fit right. They were cool enough in the heat of the open country and comfortable in the shaded canyons and riparian areas. The only negative I can think of would be that the pockets aren't very deep but were fine for my purposes.
