I am in the military and travel all around the world and it gets cold in places like Canada and Germany in the winter and this jacket is perfect for there. When I'm home, I'm outside standing around talkin' and/or workin' on cars and trucks (as a hobby) all year around and come winter time it always seems so cold that I just wanna stay inside and let my vehicles skip their maintenance/fixes/upgrades until a warmer day. But, I bought this coat and it is perfect for workin' or standin' around in the coldest of days I experience and it doesn't look completely like a work coat. If you hate bein' cold, like me, and love to be comfortable and not worry about ruinin' your clothes, don't cut the corner, go with Carhartt and you'll be happy you spent the money! Like Dad always said, "ain't nothin' free in this world and ya' get what ya' pay for".

Well I've had this coat now for 2 winters and you know...its just ok. To be honest, its really not ultra warm. If you are out moving around a lot then it is but for casual wear its really not very warm. The strangest thing is that this coat says that it has the same insulation as the traditional arctic coat but its not even close. The traditional arctic coat has thicker insulation that you can see and feel and looking back, I should have gone with that one but liked the look of this sandstone fabric more. Live and learn.

Excellent Piece of Gear

By Echo7Papa

from Evansville, IN

Comments about Carhartt Sandstone Traditional Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined (Style #C26):

I was given my coat in 1993--yes, 21 years ago. When I got it, the thing was as stiff as heavy-duty cardboard, but over the years it's become very broken in and soft. I've worn it while working in 20+ below temps, snow/ice storms and rain. It's now faded to the point that you'd never guess it once was brown. In just the last two years it has started to fray at the cuffs and I've had a couple of unfortunate snags on the sleeves. I hate to have to get a new one, but it looks like it might be time to retire the current C26. Definitely worth it, though, as this is one excellent piece of gear!

A Keeper

Comments about Carhartt Sandstone Traditional Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined (Style #C26):

Warm, durable coat, this is my second coat of this type, purchased my 1st one over 30 yrs ago and I still wear it....just wanted another color. First one was brown duck, this one is green, would have liked red or navy. Long hip length coat keeps lower back warm, water repellency excellent, also purchased hood, fantastic wind blocker and very warm in frigid temps with extreme wind chill temps, knit cuffs keep wind and precip from going up sleeves. Use for work and pleasure work conditions constantly change. Am a truck driver hauling hazardous materials....many load sites are in Port Newark and Port of Phila along river which can be very extreme. Excellent coat in reducing static charge build up common in other non carhartt coats.

Awesome Coat

By NYChris

from NY

Comments about Carhartt Sandstone Traditional Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined (Style #C26):

This coat can't be beat! I love Carhartt products and have another work coat, coveralls and overalls, so when the time came to purchase a new "casual" coat this was the first place a I looked. Picked out what I wanted and the wife ordered it as a Christmas gift. It took 3 tries to get it right (our own fault), as the first coat we ordered was the wrong size. After checking the size of my other coat, we reordered only to discover that in this particular style I needed a tall - I'm 6'0 but have long arms. The third coat was perfect, and I have to say there were no issues with the returns and shipping was fast. The coat itself is awesome. The arctic quilt lining is amazing - I walked my dogs today in 20 degree weather with a wind chill near 0 and was very comfortable. The materials are great, and the workmanship and durability match my other Carhartt products. I'd buy another in a minute - except I expect this one is going to last 15+ years !

Can't out wear this coat.

By winger

from West Texas

Comments about Carhartt Sandstone Traditional Coat/Arctic Quilt-Lined (Style #C26):

I own #c26 coat and I love it, I've lost so much weight I need a smaller size. The one I have is 10 years old and still looks good. I have a small farm and it's great to throw on the coat go feed and not think about the cold. My youngest at 26 wanted the coat and she'll have it for many more years to come. Carhartt makes a very durable long lasting and good looking product.
