This is a solid, durable jacket and very recommendable. A couple things I've noticed. Due to that this has a rugged denim outer, realize it may seem stiff at first but it's easily gotten used to. After a day I didn't notice it anymore. Also, Carhartt, in general, at times, seems to have some erratic sewing on their seams, but never in a way that reduces strength or durability. The colors are pretty decent but I admit I haven't washed it yet to be able to say how they hold out through that, but they put these through a special process resulting in a nice unique look to each one. The inside pockets are a big plus and are roomy enough for most smallish items. Overall I have no regrets to buying this, and plan to have it for several years.

I am 5'10" tall and while the medium size dark plum looks smashing on, it is not very practical for my intentions. In the cold in which I live, the idea of bending over in the slightest and having cold air rush up my back is very unappealing. I found the Large to be too boxy on top, across the chest to the underarm connections, but the sleeves a better length. The Medium fit me better through the body, but the sleeves were on the short side. But with both sizes, the back was just too short. Yes, it made my butt look great, but I have other jackets that serve that function. ;o) Wish Carhartt would make a "Tall" in this style and give us ladies over 5'8" just a couple of more inches in length.

      Best Purchase ever

      By knowitall

Comments about Carhartt Mens Sandstone Duck Active Jacket (#J130):

I bought this jacket and I live in Minnesota and I wore this coat with a hoodie sweatshirt under neath and I was warm at -20 degrees. I have yet to be cold in this jacket. I would recommend sizing up so that you can wear a hoodie underneath. That will ensure you never get cold. On the warmer days or when I am working hard, I take the hoodie off and I then I don't get all sweaty. With the hoodie off the extra space acts like a bellows and ensures that you have a fresh air exchange....thus, you don't get all sweaty. The sandstone finish feels broken in right out of the box. I liked it so much I bought the insulated (quilted) bib overalls to match.

Comments about Carhartt Mens Sandstone Duck Active Jacket (#J130):

This jacket has quickly become the favorite of my closet. It is something I dont have to worry about working in because I know its built for that. It also is great to beat the wind. I work outside a lot and I hardly need to wear anything underneath it even in sub-freezing weather and wind. I love it!

          A:

Not completely, but I have welded in these jackets before and they dont catch on fire. They will get this little burn marks where the slag has hit it. If you starch the coat or jacket the the red hot beads of slag will just slide right off and not burn the material.
