Comments about Camp Chef Ranger 3-Burner Blind Stove - 51,000 BTUs:
NOT a backpack stove!
Just about the perfect stove for blind, tail-gate, or table-top camp cooking. Large, easy to reach, easy to see controls offer a full range of cooking temperatures. Cooking surface can handle large, heavy skillets or griddles. Weighs considerably less than other stoves offering similar output, yet is stable, an important safety consideration. Easy to clean, too! Heats large pots of liquid, or that 'camp-sized' coffee pot in a jiffy.
Only shortcomming is the lack of a windscreen, or similar device when cooking on exposed surfaces at very low flame heights. Since the controls on this unit will let you independently adjust the flame height from a 'Saturn-Five' roar to a gently warming, 'gentle flicker' - a windy morning will often cause a flame-out at very low settings. With a windscreen option, this item would rate a 'Plus-5'!
Still, at the price and quality level offered, this unit is the BEST I've seen and used in over thirty years of casual camp cooking for our Hungry Group, and look foward to years of reliable service with this unit.
