Comments about Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector:
As I first got into this, I didn't want to spend a lot of money. So I went with this version. It works great and has already paid for itself. For the price it is a great value.

Comments about Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector:
I realized my wedding ring was missing yesterday. It comes off easily so I have a tendency to take it off whenever I am doing anything where it might fall off - but I could not find it in any of my usual places that I put it. I was absolutely sick with the thought that it was lost. The only thing I had done all day where it could possibly have come off without me noticing was pulling the hose around to add some water to the pull. I had crawled around on my hands and knees for 2 hours looking through all the grass to find it with no luck.
I went out and bought a Tracker IV - came home - put it together - ran through the tests in the book with coins and went out to look for it. I have never used a metal detector before in my life. At first I had a few hits - but not where I thought I could have lost it. Then I tried the discriminator settings. I tested it with a couple other rings to see that they made the lower tone beep (more of a brrrp sound). Went back out - found one spot with that tone. My wife bent down, dug around for about 20 seconds and said "Here it is!". I could not be more happier.
I have no idea how this product stacks up against other metal detectors - but I can say this: If you lost something important (and it is metal) go out and get yourself one of these. I found my ring and now I have a new hobby!

Comments about Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector:
I purchased my Tracker IV several weeks ago but my schedule has allowed me to take it only once, for a trial run. I spent and hour at a local public park and it seemed to work fine. I used headphones with the unit, which made using the unit much easier by blocking out external noises you would encounter at a popular city park. I experimented with the different settings, and found several targets, but nothing of value. I think the next time out I will set the unit on the setting which detects everything, and once I get a signal try the other settings to narrow down what the find might be - that way I don't automatically rule out coins or jewelry, or anything else. I expect to enjoy the Tracker IV.

Q:
what is the range right and left?Asked on 9/27/2009 by Anonymous1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The Bounty Hunter Tracker IV Metal Detector does not have a range to the left and the right. For you to pick up items you need to constantly sweep the Metal Detector from left to right in a slow and steady motion. We do hope that this has helped answer your questions but if you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us here at Gander Mountain and we will be glad to assist you.Answered on 10/1/2009 by Brooks from Gander Mountain
Q:
Is this metal detector water proof?Asked on 4/12/2009 by Anonymous from Marquette, MI1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The Tracker IV will detect in extreme ground conditions from salt wet beaches to highly mineralized inland sites with no operator adjustments to the circuitry and with no loss of sensitivity. The unit itself is not waterproof.Answered on 4/14/2009 by Matt from Gander Tech
