A two channel amp (example 200 watts or 2x100) only delivers power through two stereo channels such as a left and right side--so a 200 watt 2 channel amp delivers 100 watts per channel for a total of 200 watts.
A four channel amp (example 400watts or 4x100) works just as a two channel amp--but with extra channels. This configuration makes it convenient to power an entire audio system from a single amplifier (possibly running a sub and component speakers from the same amplifier. )Answered on 5/5/2014 by Anonymous
