I bought this as a surf rod to try out the glowstik. I like that it is a two piece design which makes for easier transport. Most of the other glow stick rods I have seen have been a single one piece design and were considerably higher priced than this one. At first I was skeptical about the light up function on the rod as it doesnt seem to light up the whole rod, but once the pigments get charged it glows enough to see the tip when doing some early morning or late evening fishing. It also comes in handy when re-rigging poles from a snapped line. Overall versy satisfied with the product and price
