Product Description

BayStar is the first hydraulic steering system designed for use with boats powered by single outboard motors up to 150 hp. Ideal for skiffs, center consoles, bass boats, and runabouts, BayStar's balanced, compact steering cylinder was developed to fit these smaller splashwells. This affordable system comes with everything needed for easy installation. Each kit includes a super-low-friction helm pump, cylinder, high-pressure cut-to-fit steering tubing, 2 bottles of hydraulic steering fluid, and a filler kit. 4.5 turns lock-to-lock. Requires at least a 32" splashwell. For Mercury Optimax 150 DFI, use SeaStar Hydraulic System. Hydraulic Steering Systems are shipped directly from the manufacturer. Please allow 10-14 days for delivery.

You will need another ram set. You need a ram for each motor and this kit only comes with one. We can special order it from teleflex. call our techs at 1-888-683-7866

A:
I am fairly sure they are talking about the area right in front of the motor. On one site that was a Baystar commercial it was said that just 21 inches was necessary and this one says that 32 inches is necessary. I don't know why the difference and don't know from experience what is needed.
