Offering superior strength, sharp looks, and corrosion resistance, this retractable cleat with thin profile installs easily on narrow gunwales. Friction springs reduce rattling and hold cleat up at any position. Drainage receptacles capture moisture. Each stanchion is a 7/16" rod of solid stainless steel. The cleat rises above the deck to 1-5/8" and lowers to 1/2". Measures 4-1/2"L x 1-5/16"W. Requires two 1" dia. holes for installation.

Installation is a little intimidating because you are drilling holes in your boat. Take your time, its easy. They look fantastic once they're in. Consider making a gasket out of bicycle innertubes to improve the seal against the hull and protect the gel coat.

If you are going to use cleat for tie up, a backing plate of aluminum or poly is essential. If using for fenders, the washers included are fine.

This cleat is of high quality materials. I needed a cleat for the bow of my pontoon boat, but didn't want a conventional cleat, as it would be a toe-smasher/trip hazard. It looks like it will hold up well, and will compliment my boat.
