Comments about HO Sports Accurate Rope Shortener:

This is kind of a tricky review to write. Let me start with the good things. This rope can adjust to an infinite number of lengths for the most picky skier / boarder. Want to be 4" closer to the boat... easy. Want to be at 57.25'... done. There is no other rope on the planet that allows a skier to be as selective as this rope. We used it to barefoot at 80' and we used it (as a goof) to kneeboard in the rooster tail about 10' behind the boat. No tie offs needed, and no knots tied in the rope for the intermediate skiers.

Now the bad things. This rope has an amazing ability that I have never experienced before. No matter how carefully I coil the rope... whenever I threw it out it would be a rats nest full of knots. Getting the rope knot free and ready to pull its first skier can take several minutes (depending on how patient you are.) Also, we broke the first one in under 4 months. The cam system that allows the rope to be adjusted started to get loose and one of the "teeth" quite literally bit through the rope while there was a skier in tow. Luckily HO Sports is a stand up company and quickly replaced the entire thing.

I have not had a chance to go out again with the new unit but I am looking forward to giving it another go. Hopefully I just got a bad unit.

That is why this review is tricky. As for ease of use and adjustability (and just being a slick idea)... 5 stars all day. It is a one of a kind item that can't be beat in that category. But the device and rope did break pretty quickly... and it was INCREDIBLY frustrating to get the knots out of the line every time you brought it out.

Overall, it is a super cool gadget that is great when it is working right and a terror when it isn't.

    How does this work?

push in on the front of the mechanism and it allows you to pull in or let out as much rope as you would like. When the rope has tension put on it a cam inside locks you in to any desired length you like. Designed by pro wakeboarder shaun murray.
