I bought this rod combo a year and a half ago and it had always been great for me. The only problem that I've had with it is that just a few days ago it snapped just above where the 2 pieces connect while I was fighting a 6-pound bass. I still caught the fish, but the rod shouldn't have broke under it. It is still a pretty good rod for the money. Since I fish almost every day I understand that it would break quicker for me than for most other fishermen, but I hope all the rods don't break so easily.

Bought this about a week ago at gander on sale. Decided to bring it out a couple days ago and was fishing with a frog top water for bass. On the 4th cast the rod snapped below where the rod pulls into 2 pieces near the BOTTOM of the rod where it is the thickest! I will be returning to the store for an exchange in hopes it was just a defect in the rod. If all goes well with the new rod I will update this review!

bought this combo on a saturday sale at gander. got a sweet deal. very good construction IM7 graphite 2 piece rod, and nice reel. first time fishing pulled in a few 5 pound bass and loved it. i mainly trout fish rivers and fly fish. this is a great rod for the price. i would definitely recommend it to anyone.
