The AP16 Autopilot offers a reduced-size display unit which features the same reliability, power, and advanced functions as some of the larger autopilots in the Simrad line. The AP16 also utilizes SimNet - Simrad's highly advanced, single cable electronic interconnection for advanced data sharing and system control. The AP16 autopilot features a large, easy-to-read LCD matrix display and a new dedicated keypad layout that enables simple and intuitive operation. The screen features several display modes including Nav, Auto, and Wind - all of which show the most important information in the optimum view. The AP16 automatically adapts to your boat's steering characteristics, including proportional rate rudder control, compass calibration, and sea state adjustments. In navigation mode, it keeps your boat on a preset course and steers through a preplanned route made up of a series of waypoints programmed on your chartplotter. Autopilot systems are made up several components designed to function best in either sail or power applications. Simrad offers five different permutations of the AP16 system suitable for different types of vessels using outboard engines, inboard engines, and inboards with Z-Drive.
