Q:I just attended a safety summit for work where the coast guard was a speaker. He said the ACR firefly is a sub for flares, night time only, daytime sub would need a flag. Is this the unit that could sub for flares at night?Asked on 6/30/2014 by joel from midland mi
I have been researching your question and I have been told that at this point in time, the ACR Firefly does NOT replace flares. There are a lot of discussions about this and at this time there is NO substitute for for flares.

Q:does it automatically turn on when put in water?Asked on 6/3/2014 by Laneen from Drummond Island, MI
No. The Firefly will not automatically come on when put in the water. It will have to be turned on manually by turning the ring at the neck of the light.
