Easy to apply adhesive and if you use it right, it goes a long way. You better not be sloppy though, this glue is designed to be resistant to the extremes of its intended application. Cleaning up the spills and the mess is very difficult.

This adhesive is not appropriate for an installation requiring sharp bends, such as wrapping around plywood, or application to vertical surfaces. My boat has many such surfaces, (under-seat storage, etc.) and this will not hold the carpet in place while it sets. It does not tac like contact cement. I tested it in a small area and promptly realized it wasn't going to work. It was fairly easy to remove. It is similar in nature to Elmer's glue. I wish the product description was clearer about the nature and intended use of the product. Overton's does seem to be selling it for installing carpet in a boat. I wasted my money. I went out and purchased two gallons of contact cement and finished the job without difficulty. The original factory installation was done with contact cement and it had lasted 27 years.

Comments about Overton's Overton's Indoor/Outdoor Do-It-Yourself Carpet Adhesive, gallon:
We applied this adhesive and carpet we also purchased from Overton's, to our aluminum floor of our pontoon boat that we are totally refurbishing. The adhesive was easy to apply and clean up was also easy. The carpet was adhered to the flooring by the next day. Looks great! I would recommend this product.

I used a brush to lay it down. There was plenty of time to work with it. It seems to be sticking very well.

Q:
Can I use this adhesive to glue carpet on trailor bunksAsked on 4/21/2011 by Matt from Shaver Lake,CA936641 answer
VERIFIED BUYER
A:
I glued large amount of carpet to plywood. I do not see why this same adhesive could not be used to glue carpet to a trailor bunk. It does need 72 hours curing time.Answered on 7/17/2011 by George from Melbourne Beach, Florida
Q:
will this product adhere to BB Plyform plywoodAsked on 9/21/2010 by wease from Thomasville NC1 answer
A:
It is only meant to be applied to marine grade plywood, not pressure treated plywood, because with pressure treated, the copper salts will leach out and disolve the adhesive and the rubber carpet backing.Answered on 9/24/2010 by Bryant from Tech
Q:
would it not adhere to pressure treated plywood?Asked on 8/19/2009 by eck from scottsburg in1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
No it does not. The chemicals in the treated plywood don't allow for a good bond.Answered on 9/9/2009 by toby from overtons tech. dept.
Q:
will this adhere to plastic plywood?Asked on 8/10/2009 by Anonymous1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
The adhesive is water based, but unfortunately, there are so many different types of plastic, it is very hard to determine if it would work. If you would like to call in to our tech department at 1-888-683-7866, we would be happy to discuss this.Answered on 9/28/2009 by Bryant C from Tech Department
