This book has good explanations about how to repair things and lots of pictures. I haven't had to do any big repairs yet, but I have read through several sections and I think this book will be very handy when I do.

                A:

The year of your boat does not decifer the year of your motor. If a dealer looked up your motor's serial number and it referenced a 1991 then it is a 1991. It is not uncommon that this happens.

I have a 1996 wellcraft scarab w/ 502 engine. I've recently noticd a small amount of what appears to be oil with a slight hint of fuel smell dripping directly below the punp the I believe drives the fuel pump and the water intake to cool the engine. Does it make sense that this pump would leak oil in a failing stage and is it possible fuel could be coming through with it? Or should I look elsewhere for the problem?

That is a possibility..I would have a marine mechanic look at it for trouble-shooting.
