Product Description
standard_horizon The GX2100 Matrix integrates a dual-channel AIS receiver that displays received AIS target vessels directly on your VHF radio. It displays AIS target information (MMSI, call sign, ship's name, BRG, DST, SOG, and COG) and will allow you to contact an AIS ship directly using DSC, show your position in relation to targets, and alert you when an AIS ship is approaching with its CPA (closest point of approach alarm). One antenna input is all that's needed since the GX2100 utilizes the VHF antenna to receive targets from ships with AIS class A or B transponders. Features an 80 db commercial-grade receiver with local/distance attenuator, Class D DSC, and powerful 30-watt loud hailer with preprogrammed fog signals. Radio has durable chassis, user-changeable channel names, optional voice scrambler, noise-canceling speaker microphone, 4.5-watt audio output, NOAA weather alert, and programmable scan. The GX2100 Matrix allows you to enter up to 100 waypoints and navigate to them with a unique navigation compass; display shows your vessel SOG, COG, BRG, and DST to the waypoint. Radio can be connected to a RAM3 Remote Access microphone, allowing control of all VHF, DSC, and hailer functions remotely. Features the ability to poll the GPS location of another vessel and show that vessel's position on the radio's alphanumeric display. Meets JIS7 submersible standards. Three-year warranty.

Comments about Standard Horizon GX2100 Matrix Fixed-Mount VHF Radio With Integrated AIS:

This radio interfaces with my Garmin Chart Plotter and provides super detail about commercial traffic. I expected a great radio and I got it. The negative about the remote mike does not apply to our use.

Comments about Standard Horizon GX2100 Matrix Fixed-Mount VHF Radio With Integrated AIS:

If you use a remote mic, note that you will need to buy a NEW one that works with this model. Although I had a Standard Horizon mic, SH designed this model to require a new mic that replicates the base unit features. This is not something I wanted, needed or was interested in paying for, but it was the only way I could have used the remote feature. In addition to cost, a new mic would have required complete rewiring to the remote unit.

              I returned the product.

Caution: if you have an older VHF and use the remote mike in your cockpit, it cannot be adapted for use with this. You will need to buy a new mike and rewire.

If coupled with the GPS will send a position in distress. It shows AIS imput and if coupled with a GPS chartplotter will show positions on the chart. The small display is useful but the chartplotter is great.
