I use this on a 14ft fishing boat in the Adirondack Mtns in NY. It is well made and good quality. The problem I have is the umbrella flops around because the back of the portable seat I have is not strong or stiff so the mount is wobbly. So the key here is to know what you are mounting to. My problem is the seat not the unit. You have to get out of the seat and bend over to adjust it or put it up or down. The second day I used it the umbrella blew overboard and went to Davy Jones locker. It was collapsed and laying on the bench seat when a gust of wind came in from the rear opened it and away it went. Now I will use the locking wrapper. I like it enough to buy another.

I bought two - one to use on our micro skiff - so my wife could get some shade and the other to put on our garden tractor. Maybe the chance of the umbrella's metal tip and construction making a difference one way or the other in the event of a lightning strike is neglible - it is still incredible that this is packaged with a conductive umbrella. Golf umbrellas have been made out of fibreglass for years [*] But that isn't my biggest complaint. To advertise this as suitable for a riding lawnmower is false advertising. It isn't suitable. Whether the bracket will survive in the Florida sun is for someone else to determine (I'm returning these to the vendor) but both the retainer bolt that secures the umbrella handle to the cup in the bracket and the wing nut that locks the bracket's angle come loose from vibration and/or rough terrain after a few minutes of cutting. Once either loosens the bracket falls down and drags the umbrella where it can easily be ruined or the umbrella pops out of the holder. Either way you have to get off the mower and waste time tightening everything before you can start again. Once it happens the first time you find yourself paying less attention to your mowing and more attention to whether this poorly made and designed product is going stay fastened. I've slipped a small tensile spring over the retainer bolt to see if that will act as a lock washer and I'm trying star lockwashers on the angle bracket but so far I haven't used the tractor enough to tell if my workaround will solve the problem. It is ridiculous that you should buy something and then have to re-engineer it to do what the company advertises it to do. P.S. - since I began having problems with this product last week and started writing this review we've used the umbrella on a 7 hour fishing trip in salt water and it has already started to rust noticeably AND that was after it was rinsed in freshwater after the trip. Unbelievable! Rusting after only 1 day. These are going right back for a refund.
