jabsco This compact high-pressure pump features a powerful 4.0 GPM flow rate to blast mud and silt from your anchor, chain, and deck. Waterproof design includes coated motor and sealed pressure switch. Thermal overload protection automatically stops the motor if it overheats. The Par-Max 4 comes with pump guard filter, trigger nozzle, and snap-in ports. Pressure up to 60 psi. Self-priming up to 10'. 12V DC .7 amp draw. Connections for 3/4" or 1/2" ID hose. 8.6"L x 4.2"W x 4.1"H.

          • Q:

            The Jabsco website indicates the 32605 model has a maximum suction lift of 6', while your catalog indicates that it is self-priming to 10'-- please advise. This aspect of the pump capability is critical to me as I plan to install the unit at my boat dock, and I would like to install the suction line as deep as possible to avoid algae growth. Also, I conclude that this model has no pressure switch. Please confirm.

            • A:

              If I remember physics correctly, it should not matter how deep you insert the hose into the water. Inserting the hose 10' deep below the surface is not the same as trying to pull a siphon 10 feet up into the air. You have the pressure underwater helping you. You will encounter some friction restriction with a longer hose, but that would be the case whether you dropped the 10' hose straight down or if you went sideways for 10'.

              To further answer your question, don't try to pump water more than 6' above the surface and you will have met both requirements. As to which one is correct, I don't know.

              The lift is the vertical distance from the surface of the water to the centerline of the pump. You can drop the suction line as deep as you want and the pump will not care.

              You will wire this to the battery with a 7 amp (for 24 volt systems) or a 10 amp (for 12 volt systems) fuse in the line.
