I live in Florida and have a problem with mildew forming on the vinyl seats in my pontoon. This gives great ventilation to not only ventilate the extreme heat, but to ventilate the moisture that accumilates under the cover in such a humid area.

Can this vent be used if the cover will be used during trailoring? i.e. will it withstand winds of 70mph+ at highway speeds?

That is not a good idea. You should remove it and the pole before trailering.

part splits apart. cut hole in cover---split part in two halfs--one part on top of cover--thread bottom half to top half---BAM thats all. wood support poles will swell making them impossible to remove. al poles a must.

About a 2 1/2" hole, but TaylorMade provided a template. The clamping force of the Boat Vent should keep the canvas from unraveling.

The hole is only about the size of a quarter or so and, no you do not have to stitch around it.

This vent says it works with a support pole and is sold as an accessory to the Pontoon Boat Cover Support Sysyem. Does it work with and is it designed to work with the poles in that set or does it need another pole?

                      • A:

The hole in the vent for the pole to slide into is two and one-half inches deep. The first one inch of the hole fits onto a seven-eights inch diameter pole. Past the one inch mark the hole tapers to fit a three-fourths inch diameter pole. My support poles are three-fourths inch in diameter and they slide tightly all the way into the bottom of the two and one-half inch hole. Use any poles you want if they are either 7/8 or 3/4 inch in diameter. Hope this helps.

The vent installs in the cover and if you have over say a 15-17 foot boat, you would probably want to go with two.
