I was having Problems with my battery's going dead between boating trips. After purchasing the Pro Mariner Battery Maintainer for both my Personal Watercraft and my Ski Boat, I have never had another dead battery. Less trouble means more time on the water.

Use the product for my jet skis and there are usually one or two sitting out of the water most times so I keep them on a float charge. Easier than a regular battery charger and you can let them sit for an infinite time

Comments about ProMariner ProSport 1.5 Amp Portable Battery Maintainer:

Happy with this charger. Is a good trickle charger. Only thing I would add is a charge indicator light. There is a green power indicator light. Unit does not run hot and will use for winter trickle charge of several types of boat and pwc batteries.

I own several pro-mariner products and they are good units and pro-mariner has very good customer service and tech-support.

              Service and delivery comments:

Overton's has fast shipping and great customer service. Product arrived quickly. They just did not include the instruction sheet, but info is available on pro-mariner web site.

Overton's is a great company to do business with.

                • Q:

I have an '09 Seadoo 255 and use a battery tender on my Skidoo and Harley and a vehicle or two, but was told to not use a tender at all on a jetski. I did put one on last year when I first got my Skidoo not knowing that I shouldn't have and when I checked after a day of having the battery tender on the wires were hot. The service manager explained that since the body of the jetski was not metal that it could not use the body as a ground therefore causing an overload on the sensitive circuits, ie. damage. I was lucky, so I am confused as to whether or not you all are suggesting that it is ok to connect the tender with the battery in place or is it understood that the battery should be removed each time before attaching the tender? Mine is in the garage now on a tender, but that is because it has been a long winter and the battery was removed before attaching the tender. What is the story with your particular product for proper use on a jetski? Thank you, Joshua

Yes, you will have to plug the charger into a AC outlet to maintain a charge.

Not to my knowledge, it is a low amp trickle charger that can be ordered with either clips or ring connectors.

During the winter, I remove batteries from boats, and bring them indoors. I rotate them to trickle charge with a unit like this while they are dormant to keep them conditioned.

Pro-mariner does make larger 3 phase units that can charge 1,2 or 3 batteries at the same time and these larger units start with a high amp charge, then desulfite phase, then trickle charge. They are great as on-board chargers for the regular season. It is best if you have multiple batteries to have them all the same type (ie: cranking, deep cycle, dual purpose.) the larger pro-mariner units can be used with wet cells, AGM batteries as well as gel cells, they just all have to be the same type. You set the charger accordingly.
Hope this info helps you out.

The battery manufacturer (Deka) recommends "never" leaving a trickle charger on the battery over 48 hours. The specs on the product above state it can be left on batteries indefinitely. Which is correct?

                  Thanks!

                    A:

Well the thing about pro mariner chargers and maintainers is one you get into the larger size units, they actually switch themselves off or maintain mode and are technically not charging the unit. I would not "always" have my battery actually charging either. I would want something that flipped off or into maintain mode.
