Product Description
th_marine_supplies These trailering clips provide an economical way to protect stern drive units while trailering or storing. Trailering clips relieve the stress on the hydraulic tilt and trim system by transferring the stern drive weight from the hydraulic cylinders to the transom bracket. These clips help prevent damage from weight surges during trailering and increase the life of the o-rings, internal seals, and valves in the hydraulic system. Resistant to UV rays, gasoline, oil, and other marine chemicals.

These 12" long clips fit all sterndrives with 3/4" hydraulic rams, including: Mercruiser Alpha I, Alpha I Generation II, Bravo I, Bravo II, Bravo III, and Blackhawk Stern Drives. The clips can also be trimmed to fit shorter rams. Sold in pairs.

Very easy install

I have a 305 MerCruiser I/O, I had to cut to size with a hacksaw. It was very easy to do. Install took at most ten minutes.

Cut to length an use.

Simple to use once cut to length. A little awkward to hold on to for cutting because of shape. Make sure you get them fully snapped in to place.

Comments about T-H Marine Supplies Sterndrive Trailering Clips:

Made of good material. I had to cut them for length. I also drilled two holes on one end to secure them with zip ties. Probably don't need the zip ties because they fit snug on the cylinder ram. I also lower the drive an 1/8" on the ram to keep them held tight in place. These are very nice trailing clips and I am very happy with them.

I cut these down to fit my outboards steering and they work great. Very well made and keep the motors centered. Easy to cut with a chop saw. Also put them on my fresh water boat and work just as well.

does it replace or do you use with transom saver

            A:

Typically, the trailering clips are used in I/O applications to alleviate the strain on the hydraulics and transom savers are used on O/B's. You still have the weight of the outdrive bouncing on the transom with the trailering clips.

            A:

I used them on an I/O, not an outboard. I would say that since outboard trim cylinders are much shorter and are still near the transom pivot, that a transom saver would offer more support for an outboard application.
