It works great as a gut hook, but as I said earlier it could be thinner and made with something more durable like metal or fiberglass rather than plastic, but good tool for the money.

I use this gut hook on all the Whitetails we shoot, in a typical year thats usually around 8 - 12, and it works very well. I was looking for a gut hook with a replacable blade and this is the tool I was looking for!! It is easy to use & you never have to worry about it being dull, simply change the utility knife blade which are much easier to find than the wyoming knife blades & at pennies on the dollar for new blades you can't go wrong. It is lightweight and durable. I've had mine for three years and after 30 deer it is time for a new one. The only draw back is if you over tighten th screw you can crack the plastic.
