Comments about Leatherman® Charge® Multitool With Leather Sheath:

This was an early Xmas gift from my folks, generous people who know I appreciate quality over quantity. When I hold this tool in my hand and compare it to the Gerber multi-tool that I had been using, I realize I have been missing out! The Gerber was good, but just cannot compete with this Leatherman, so the Gerber has now been relegated to my evacuation kit. I love the 2 or 3 opportunities I have each day to pull out my Charge AL to tighten this, snip or trim that, probe this, or get a good grip on that. As an industrial safety engineer who spends a lot of time "out in the field", I am keenly aware that good people act to correct observed hazards and issues...so long as it is convenient! (e.g. resources are available at that moment) Otherwise, the likelihood of resolution drops with time and distance from the problem. I say BE PREPARED with a good multi-tool :) I'll get off my soap box now.

Here's what I like about this Charge AL:
    - exchangeable bits! Bit kits with a 21 double-sided heads are sold separately, as is a bit extender. This makes, the Charge AL a super-versatile tool.
    - solid feel and pistol-grip handling when using bit driver
    - general ergonomics of the tool
    - pinch points have been engineered out for the most part, so fewer owie-incidents and less insecurity when handling the tool. Preoccupation distracts from doing the job safely.
    - it's cool-looking instrument, with the anodized handles contrasting the stainless steel innards.
    - the 154CM steel blade is sharp as heck and has a nice shape. There's a hint at a chisel edge, which I like.
    - diamond-coated file, which is great for sharpening other instruments (e.g. a pen knife blade)

    Things I don't like:
    - *crickets chirping*
Each of these tools has its own unique gadget or two. Is it ideal for me? I'd love to have the cutting hook from the Charge ALX/TTi, or the spring action of the Sidekick or Wingman, or an awl like the Rebar model, but not at the expense of anything else on this perfect little slice of gadget-guy bliss.
