Comments about Kershaw® Ken Onion Chive Straight-Edge Folding Knife:
Dad was complaining how all his pocket knives were dull after opening two or three pellet bags. Got this knife for him as a gift on recommendation from a friend and he said it's still sharp weeks later! He loves it. Best compliment ever coming from someone with a drawer FULL of dull pocket knives. He loves it.

Comments about Kershaw® Ken Onion Chive Straight-Edge Folding Knife:
I've carried this knife every day since early 2004. It needs to be sharpened, but then again I've never sharpened it ever. Its very easy to unlock the blade AND open it simultaneously. Everyone I've shown it to loves it. I have even used it to pry stuff open without bending it somehow (not using the blade).
My only complaint is the blade lock, which is needed to prevent the knife from accidentally opening in your pocket, wore out quickly with every day use, its made from plastic, maybe a steel replacement piece would be best.
If I lost it, I would replace it immediately.

Comments about Kershaw® Ken Onion Chive Straight-Edge Folding Knife:
I just purchased my third Chive. The last two were purchased as replacements for the first one but the first knife keeps showing back up.
The SpeedSafe opening is the main reason that I purchased it. While I'm not in the outdoors much at all, my job requires me to open boxes and being able to open the knife with one hand is a big plus.
The safety on the most recently purchased knife seems to have a little more friction than my first two. While this isn't a bad thing at all, the friction does not seem engineered; it seems like they forgot to put in a smooth washer or something... my other two knives had a "smoother" safety action. The safety on my first one broke somewhere along the line and Kershaw was very prompt in sending me a couple replacement safeties.
The SpeedSafe opening seems to get a little worn over time; my newest one opens very rapidly whereas my 3-4 year old one is a little slower to open. It may just be time to open it up and grease it a little bit.
I don't have much experience with other knives in terms of how well they hold their edge, but I end up sharpening this knife about four times per year. This may be overkill for sharpening but the last thing I need to do is be carrying around a dull knife.
All-in-all a very good general-purpose knife that stays in my pocket all the time.
