My dog loves it!
This is a heavy duty device that works great. I think any dog would catch on very quickly how to use it, mine did and loves it.

This item can only be used on a ladder that does not fold. We purchased this item in hopes that our large dog would be able to pull himself out of the water. Our pontoon ladder folds in the middle, which does not allow the device to hook on in the manner it was designed. It is designed to hook on to a ladder step, hanging down flush against the ladder with the platform sticking out into the water. Our ladder has a joint, causing a inch or so difference from the step it is attached to and the lower part where the platform hangs. It sticks out of the water at an angle, posing a safety issue for the dog and making it impossible for our dog to get on at water level. We attempted to use the device, our dog with assistance got his front paws on, but the ladder fell off and the dog with it. (We were the joke of the swimming hole and it scared the dog.) This device DOES NOT fit all ladders. The idea is awesome, it seems to be made well, but we now have to purchase a different ladder if we want to use it.

Comments about Great Day Load-A-Pup:
This ladder platform worked exactly as advertised and as designed! It attached perfectly to the ladder of a pontoon boat and allowed our dog to enter and exit the water effortlessly. The Load-a-Pup attaches in seconds and gives the dog a good, secure landing zone for coming up out of the water. The only thing I would improve about this is adding non-slip grip. My dog sometimes struggled to get a grip so that she could pull the rest of her weight up - I have ordered a non-skid traction grip spray designed for paddleboards that I hope will give this platform the "tack" it needs while not making it too coarse or rough for my pup's pads. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Great Day Load-A-Pup:
We have a 65 Lb Chocolate Lab who loves to jump off the boat and swim with us. This ladder enables her to get back on the boat all by her self. I bought the other version and it did not work at all. This one is rock solid and I would highly recomend, just don't drop it or it will sink fast!

Comments about Great Day Load-A-Pup:
It was difficult to set up on my 38 sea ray perhaps on another boat it would be easier. I would not recommend it for larger dogs, I have a Lab, it was not stable.

Comments about Great Day Load-A-Pup:
Overton's shipped the product ahead of schedule. Thank you.
I have a 15 month old black lab who weighs about 60lbs.
I have a 195 stingray FX with a telescoping ladder. I keep my boat on a lake in NY state. I attached the load a pup to the ladder and my dog had no problem using it. The only thing is you need to show your dog to step on the platform from the front and not the side.
My dog liked the load a pup so much that she wants to use it to get into the water. This will take a little getting used to but we will work on it with her.

Comments about Great Day Load-A-Pup:
A must have to ensure your dog enjoys the water when on the boat as well! It will also save your back when attempting to help her out. Our Golden Retriever is 85lbs and growing and when she is wet - of course even heavier!

Comments about Great Day Load-A-Pup:
Our golden retriever gets it. She swims to the back of the boat and gets up into the boat. We have a swim platform on the back of our boat which is about 6 inches off the water. Getting 80 pounds up into the boat without the load a pup was VERY DIFFICULT. Based on the other reviews, my handy husband just securely fastened the device to our ladder. When people use the ladder, we instruct them to put their foot on the step part of our ladder, not on the extended load a pup. We tilt the ladder up when crusing the lack and attach it to the bar that goes across the top of the swim platform. Does make putting the boat cover on a little difficult, but all in all we got it to work.

Q:
Wouldn't this tend to float up? What holds it down & keeps its from bobbing around?Asked on 5/31/2010 by Anonymous2 answers
A:
It won't float up as it is aluminum and doesn't float. Some velcro straps work well to affix this to the ladder (I use Overton's Dockmate Rope Wrap, Item # 75861). Since my ladder is hinged at the top, it does "bob" a bit if the water is rough, but that hasn't been a problem for our Lab. Smaller dogs may have a problem under those conditions but I'd question whether they should be swimming in water that rough anyway.Answered on 6/16/2010 by Emil from MNA:
the weight of it keeps it from bobbing, except in strong wakes.Answered on 6/22/2010 by dolly from Rogers, AR
Q:
can this platform be used on a poontoon boat? ladder is is left hand corner on back of boatAsked on 4/28/2010 by bubba from auburn ny2 answers
A:
Provided your ladder has steps that are open on the back side so that the Load-a-pup can hook onto a rung it should work fine. If you watch the video you can see how it attaches and then make an assessment of whether it will work on your ladder.Answered on 5/7/2010 by Emil from MNA:
Load-a-pup is fully adjustable, it will work on 98% of all boat ladders. It is selling all around the world, with dogs as large as 250LB newfoundlands. We have many pontoon boat owners.Answered on 5/31/2010 by Dondn from St. Louis, MO
