This type II PFD will fulfill the legal requirement for a wearable flotation device for each person on board your boat, and if you have one on, they will porbably roll you while unconscious in a face up position (this helps the whole breathing in and out thing in the water) but who wants to wear one?
This is the life vest Dad made you wear your first time in a boat and you, as a semi-precocious four year old, figured out you hated wearing a life vest and couldn't wait to be cool like Dad and NOT wear one anymore.
Sure, you can hold them up to show the water patrol deputy to prove you have life vests, but after he's gone, they will go right back under the seats or zipped into a hassock.
You don't get any warning when a boat accident is going to happen so it's important to actually have a PFD on all the time. So, for a few dollars more than these things - you can get a high quality, comfortable, decent looking life vest that won't make you look like "SuperNerd".
Or, spend a bit more and get an inflatable PFD, that are so comfortable, you'll forget you have one on!
