Comments about DMH Stowaway Holdaway - Model SN:

One of the features that attracted me to this product was the rubber tip that protects the boat finish. Within two hours of installation, the tips cracked and fell into the water. The manufacturer sent me two replacements which turned out to be nothing more than tennis balls with two holes. The good news is that the replacements have now lasted two weeks.
Another problem that I encountered was the compression fitting that allows the pipe to be extended to hold the boat farther from the dock. It would not hold when my pontoon boat pushed against it during periods of extended boat wakes.

These work OK to keep the boat away from piers but are difficult to use in anything but completely calm water. I would not buy these again and whatever you do, do not pull the two pieces apart.

                • Q:

I have a 1988 Resorter 18. I was wondering if there were longer lenghts available? My boat stays docked with a mooring cover over the railings, and fender cleats. I dock it nose in. I was looking to see If I could buy one at 48" to 72"?
I would tie off to lower bow hook, and keep it 24" away from dock.

Thanks, I've using 2 from earlier purchase on my 10' gamefisher

I have 21 foot Sea Ray cuddy cruiser. I am looking for something cheap to moor my boat away from my dock or sea wall. I keep my boat tied to the dock and have bumpers to take the shock of wind and waves. Will this product keep my boat from hitting the sea wall or dock like a wip would? Thanks!

I don't think it is overkill and is an inexpensive mooring option that many people resort to.

How does the stowaway holdaway attach to the dock?

                  • A:

The Stowaway Holdaway ties to the boat and ties to the dock with a central rope down the middle; it attaches like you would tie off with regular ropes. You can tie to cleats, posts, or thru the slats of the dock. The guy rope off the middle at an angle also ties to the dock.
