I recently had my dock re-built- with grandkids running and jumping off into the lake I wanted to have a cleat that would not stick up to catch small toes yet be able to secure watercraft to the dock- I bought four of these cleats only to find out I needed two more- my grandchildren think that they are great- and so does their grandfather- a very very good product

A toe saver
Great for saving toes. Can't seem to tie the boat up as tight as with a fixed cleat.

Love the design. However, more detail around the size of carrage bolts required for purchase and installation tips / instructions would have been helpful.

Q:
Is the cleat mounted backwards in the picture? I mounted mine the opposite way so the flip up cleat would be rigid (and there is a "dock edge" on the base opposite of what is shown)There are no directions included.Asked on 5/24/2010 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
I think it is shown backwards in the picture. I mounted mine so the cleat flipped up toward the water (not away from) in order to be in the vertical rigid position when in use.Answered on 7/10/2011 by Danno from Indianapolis,IN

A:
I use these for my 26' pontoon on the Mississippi. I can't seem to tie down as tight with the flip up cleat. I ordered 6 for my new dock. Color wasn't an option.Answered on 8/16/2009 by Terry from Ely,IA

If your mounting to wood 2"x decking use stainless steel wood screws. If your mounting to composite decking use stainless steel machine screws on the cleat side and fender washers and nuts on the underside.Answered on 7/31/2009 by Ozzy from CO
